When will my children's teeth come in?

Infants to Toddlers – Your child’s front teeth will usually erupt around 6 months of age. With some children it may take longer, but your child’s full set of primary teeth should be in by the age of 3.

Adolescence – As your child’s mouth continues to grow the jaw bones will change as well, making room for permanent teeth. Children typically start losing their primary teeth around the age of 5 or 6 and the permanent teeth begin to come in.

Teenagers to Young Adults – All permanent teeth, with the exception of the third molars or "wisdom teeth", should be in by 12 to 14 years of age. Teenagers should be checked regularly for molar eruption, as not everyone will have room in their mouth to accommodate wisdom teeth. Typically, the third set of molars erupts around the age of 19 to 21; however, if necessary, extractions should be done well before wisdome teeth start breaking skin and adhere to the bones underneath.
